Race Information
- There must be at least three in a category, otherwise first place only will be recognized.
- Royal Akarana Yacht Club is covered by its own public liability insurance. This does not include personal accident insurance. It is strongly recommended to take out your own personal accident and ambulance cover for the event. Your private health insurance policy may include this, but you will need to check with them.
- All competitors will be required to sign a release and indemnity at race registration.
200m Knockout Race
- The draw will be set by Friday 17 February.
- Race Briefing 10:00am; Race Start 10:30am
- Six paddlers in each heat, with the top three going through to the next round, until the final six race off for the final.
- There will be a plate event made up from the bottom three paddles of each heat from the first round only, These paddlers will then race off, with the top three paddlers from rounds two onwards going through to the next round, until the final six race off for the plate final.
- The novice event draw will be subject to numbers – with the top three to four paddlers proceeding to the next round, until the final six race off for the final of the novice event.
15-20km Ocean Race
- The Ocean Paddle course will be finalised at 17:00 on Saturday 18 February 2012 by the Race Director.
- Race Briefing 12:15; Race Start 13:00 for race course set from RAYC; Race Start 13:30 for downwind race start to allow transport to start.
- Every effort will be made to set a course that will take into consideration the wind and tide
- Paddlers will be required to wear a personal flotation device, have a leash from them to their boat, (cell phones and flares are optional).
- If you do not finish the race, please contact the race director immediately and notify him of your withdrawal
10km Novice Race
- The course will be a loop course from RAYC
- Race Briefing 12:30; Race Start 13:00
- Paddlers will be required to wear a personal flotation device.
