Every year RAYC offers a range of coastal and offshore races from Cat 1 to Cat 4 racing
Each series can be used as a stepping stone to train crew, prepare your boat and work your way up from racing around the Waitemata Harbour to heading offshore to another country
Category 4 close to shore in relatively warm or protected waters
Category 3 + Races across open water, most of which is relatively protected or close to shorelines and nor rounding major capes
Category 1 Passage or races of long distances and well offshore, where yachts must be completely self-sufficient for extended periods of time, capable of withstanding storms and prepared to meet serious emergencies without the expectation of outside assistance
