Membership at RAYC       

Membership to the Royal Akarana Yacht Club has many benefits and is a very affordable subscription.

The club is situated next to the waters of Okahu Bay, with a stunning view of Rangitoto Island and the Waitemata Harbour.

We cater for Juniors, with Yachting New Zealand recognised learn to sail programmes and qualifications.

Youth and Adult programmes.  

The club is involved with local schools running sailing lessons throught the summer.

The RAYC also have a regular and active cruising division exploring the Hauraki Gulf during the summer. There is also club fleet racing all year round.

We  strive to promote an open and friendly atmosphere that the whole family can enjoy from cradle to the grave.

Racing

• Weekend racing for all classes both Junior and Senior  

• The RAYC run some of the most prestigious sailing events on the NZ sailing calander..

• Sailing Calendar such as the National Keelboat Championships, Womens National Keelboat Champs, the Round White Island Race and the Gold Cup Inshore Series.
• RAYC is the forerunner in Ocean Racing to Pacific Island destinations regularly running races to Fiji and Noumea.
• Opportunity to join our Race Management team with training given and opportunity for recognised YNZ qualifications.

Learning

• Very affordable Junior Learn to Sail programmes in new and well maintained Club Optimists.
• Introduction to Double Handed sailing in the Cadets and 420s
• Youth Learn to Race programmes in Optimist, 420.
• Keelboat courses in our new Platu 25 Keelboats
• Learn to Sail and Learn to Race for Adults

Facilities and Activities

• Club Sailing dinghies are available for social use by the family
• Access to the clubs coffee lounge in one of the best situated position by the water
• After Race activities, usually on a Sunday that caters for all ages
• Club Bar with members discount on food and drink. 
• Active Club programme ensuring social activities that cater for the whole family
• Function rooms to hire for events
