Flying Fifteen

Flying Fifteens

The one-design Flying Fifteen is sailed throughout New Zealand with an active racing programme. The Flying Fifteen fleet at Royal Akarana Yacht Club is well established, with close racing – places are often decided by the narrowest of margins. The fleet at RAYC caters for club level racing through to international level; RAYC crews have regularly performed with distinction at the world championships. In addition to the summer and winter series the RAYC hosts the Auckland Champs and a number of Flying Fifteen specific trophies and regattas. The club last hosted the Nationals in 2005, when it also hosted the World Championships.

How to get Sailing

The best way to get sailing is to have a go! The RAYC Flying Fifteen fleet has a club boat available to try out - please contact the fleet representatives below. Or simply turn up on a race day for a look and a friendly chat. You will find the vast majority of Flying Fifteen crews very approachable and keen to help.
